Following on from my Elie Saab post, I’ve decided to stick with a sparkly theme. Sequins. As we all know, the festive season is fast approaching and it’s time to pull out that glitzy dress from the back of your wardrobe and make an entrance! Sequins are a bold style choice to conquer so I took to two fashion greats who show us how it’s done.
Queen of sequins, Taylor Swift chose a more subtle approach to the trend at her Kensington Palace appearance in November, opting for a dress by Reem Acra. The simplistic white chiffon skirt made space for the glittered bodice to grab the attention of onlookers, creating a jaw dropping look. After all, sophisticated elegance is what the country star does best! So if you’re a little wary of standing out too much, why not go for a half and half combo?
If however, you’re in for the kill, take note from pop princess Ariana Grande. She not only wowed the audience with a stunning performance of her single Tattooed Heart at the AMA’s but she also had all eyes on her Jessica Rabbit inspired dress by Dolce and Gabbana. The flaming crimson gown lit up as the starlet graced the red carpet. Ariana made sure that nothing could take away from the dress that skimmed her slender figure by choosing minimal accessories. She paired it with a black, rectangular clutch and the only pieces of jewelry in sight were small earrings and a statement silver ring.
It’s up to you! Go all out and dress to impress with full on glitter glamour, or strip it back with just a delicate amount of the Christmas classic.
